Hey dudes & dudettes! Matt here… Last night was not as productive as I had hoped for it to be, but it was still good. Matt Bell & I were the only ones in the studio. So, we played around with some new guitar tones by using various overdrive pedals. We ended up just using the red Strat (Spiderman) & the
I “doubled up” the rhythm tracks for “Smoke & Mirrors” and “Manifest”. This REALLY added some nice depth to the overall sound. It really made all the difference! It still sounds like one guitar, but in “double” stereo! Of course, we could’ve “copied & pasted” the original guitar track beside itself to make it sound like two guitars, but that would’ve been cheating! Besides, more character comes out in the song when you actually PLAY both parts. Anyway, enough of the recording lesson…
I laid down the guitar solos for both of these songs as well. Manifest is almost right where I want it. I used the neck pickup on the guitar this time. It sounds a lot smoother than the bridge pickup. I still would like to play around with the solo for Smoke & Mirrors though… I know that I’ve played it better before & I want it to come out sounding its best. NO COMPROMISES HERE!!
We called it a night at 9:45 p.m. We didn’t get around to recording the acoustic instrumental “The Wings of Pegasus”… maybe next time! Not many people have heard this tune before, so… It’s kind of a surprise!! Thanks for reading!
